The Listening Room
An intimate space for careful listening
Over the years I have worked as a producer with artists across many traditions and styles. I’ve always seen my role as providing an open ear and being a sounding board to help the artist focus on realising their personal vision. Today, many artists create at home and budgets for studio hire and a producer’s involvement are not a priority. But for those who feel they would like to have friendly feedback and ideas for problem solving and making decisions, I’m opening a small, three-month Listening Room for musicians and songwriters wanting to explore a deeper relationship with their own work.
This is about identifying what a piece is already asking for and making space for that to emerge.
It’s not about career advice, or production services, or technical fixes.
What I bring is not a signature sound or a set of generic templates, but an experienced ear and an instinct for identifying the qualities that make your work unique.
Together we can discuss how to highlight those qualities to make your work stand out.
How it works
This is a three-month experiment, limited to around 6 participants.
Each month you may share one piece of music, along with a specific question. Not a general request for advice, but something you genuinely want help hearing.
I will listen carefully and respond with recorded audio feedback.
Once a month we will also meet live on Zoom as a group. These are not lectures. They are listening rooms. Conversations about process, doubt, direction, and the decisions that shape meaningful work. A shared listening space, held with care and respect, not a critique forum.
There will be an online space for track uploads with a forum for feedback and discussion.
